My "umbau" is underways, the NG is scrapped, and the 7A just landed in the motorbay, after some struggeling with the brakemaster, bomb and kabelbaum
A question - i have manual Aircondition in the car, and it uses a vacuum tube which was connected to the vacuum pump on the 10v - where can i get vacuum for the aircon on the 7A? (where does a 20v with aircon get it?).
I have got a lot of help from this site and forum - bomb placement, hydraulic lines and other stuff - thanks for a great site
no, heres another user with an Avant, as I know his nickname is "Kleinheribert"

First try the "kraftstoffleitungen" was switched around. Next try, 2-3 turns and start
Problem : the hydraulic brake lets the oil out. Maybe my homemade return hose (made from a brake hose) is blocked - it is rather bent. The oil seems to escape from the switch with the cable connection - is there a releave valve?
Update! Problem solved - I forgot that the switch had been off - after a bit of tightening all is dry. And after a few minutes running, even the hydrostössel is silent. Great feeling - I did this
Next step - VAGCOM and ignition adjustment. Then assembly and testrides 8)
First testride with working BKV and servosteering - great engine! I'm very happy with the growing power up the rpm band - My NG was "same power everywhere" in the rpm band.
Next up - indicators, vacuumpipes and indoor restoration. And the Bilstein B12 kit
hold the engine always over 4000rpm, this is its "best working zone" with endless fun
