Since figuring out the wiring on my 7A powered Porsche 944 with your help I have not been to the forum much. But now I hope that you once again can help me.
I would like to replace the hydraulic lifters on my 7A engine with solid lifters. Is his possible with the standard 7A cams? If yes, which solid lifters do I use? If no, are there cams available for the 7A that can use solid lifters?
Reason for the change, the hydrailic lifters are not holding up well during racetrack use => continous high rpm useage.
at which RPM Range do you drive on Race Track? Are there no Sport-Hydraulic lifters to buy? Do you use Lighter and Stronger Valve-Springs?

I do not run the engine above its standard redline, and everything is stock including the springs. The cylinderhead was completely rebuilt including new lifters. They (the new lifters) lasted for awhile but have started ticking like crazy again. Note my oilpan is already baffled to avoid the oilpump drawing air.
In order to avoid the tickers in the future, I'd like to change to solid lifters. But as far as I am aware hydraulic cams will not work (properly) with solid lifters. If this is the case then this would be a good time to upgrade cams (+lifters) as well.
theres no alternative to solid lifters, when you need to exceed the physically given capabilities of hydraulic valve tappets. Unfortunately, you must not combine the original Camshafts with solid valve tappets, under no circumstances! Some companies, such as CatCams in Belgium, offer 'custom' made Camshafts to affordable costs. So there they can give you a cam-profile for solid valve tappets that fulfills your demands to the engine. If there's further interest in some details that may help, feel free to send me a PM-Message.
For those wondering which brand hydraulic lifters to buy, I do NOT recommend the Meyle ones:
This is how they came from my engine after approx. 7500 km use. Admitted, I use this as a track/race car only so these lifters have seen long duration high rpm use. But never much above 7000 rpm.
u should use INA parts. But be carefull, there are often copies of them, you should be sure to buy ORIGINAL parts
